For the last few years now, we’ve always launched a denim collection in August to coincide with back-to-school season. This year we decided to take it to the next level with a full on campaign, showing showing a broad assortment of styles and sizes on a wide range of people. Our shop manager Elyse really spearheaded the whole project - the art direction, putting out the model call, and photographing the whole look book. I asked her to share her thoughts on the experience, which you’ll find below!

“I guess the idea started when I saw the amount of new denim we were bringing into the shop…i thought, “damn, we’ve got denim for everybody!” It kind of spiraled from there - I thought wouldn’t it be cool to show as much of this as possible, styled different ways, and on a bunch of different bodies. literally denim for EVERY BODY.”

Denim is such a wardrobe staple. Always has been, always will be - and with so many different shapes and styles, there really is a perfect fit for everyone. So the goal was to actually show that, visually. No matter your size, shape, race, gender, style, etc., you can wear vintage denim.

I put it out there on instagram - asking if anyone would be down to let me dress them and take a couple photos, and a bunch of people were into it! Some friends, some people I had never met, and a handful of long-time May’s customers. Everyone was so so lovely, and it was really cool that they all took time out of their day to do this. I am very grateful.”
