#MAYSGIVESBACK: City Hope STL

Though having fun with fashion is a must at May’s Place, creating and supporting community is at the heart of what we set out to do. This year we’re taking a different approach. We’ll be giving back to a different charity each month. For the month of January, we’ll be donating a percentage of sales to City Hope STL, an organization that works with the local unhoused community to serve their immediate needs, and help set them on a path for success.

When I thought about what causes were important to me and who I wanted to lift up, basic human needs came to mind- shelter, food, & clothing. Especially when the temperature drops, it breaks my heart to see the folks out on the streets with no where to go.

In 2019, Saint Louis City reported that there were over 1,000 homeless individuals per night; 70% of them were individuals who had no relatives to stay with. City Hope helped provide them emergency housing during this time, and provided a safe location while they found permanent housing. Their mission is to cure homelessness while loving people and impacting the world.

If this is a cause that speaks to your heart, we encourage you to donate as well. If you can’t donate money, they are always looking for donations of toiletries, socks and underwear, snacks with a long shelf life (chips, cookies, animal crackers, etc.), or new or rarely used clothing.

Next month, we will be featuring another charity that we are excited to support. We hope you’ll join us is giving back. We’re thrilled to do what we can to create a better future for all.
