Six Ways to Wear a Vintage Scarf

Vintage scarves are easily our number one go-to accessory. With all the designs and textures we have in the store to work with, you can find a scarf for any outfit, no matter the season or the occasion. Maybe you want to give your trench coat a pop of color, or decorate your neck or your ponytail with a little something. But it’s not easy to figure out how to style them if you don’t have any inspiration. That’s where we come in.  Here are a few of our favorite scarf looks.

The Headband

This look can go so far. While it is styled a lot with shorter haired folks like our girl Maddie here, it can also work with long hair that would give it a more bohemian mom of the 60s vibe. Start with a regular triangle fold. Fold the long ways end three times horizontally and tie around your head in the desired position. Flip the triangle flap out from the tie and voila!

The Coat Drape

You can have the most fun with this look because in addition to the various styles of scarves, there are all kinds of coats or jackets you can pair it with! We like this look because the green leather goes so well with the texture of the red scarf (perfect for the holidays), and paired with the white tee and jeans, it creates an equally effortless and cool look. To fold this scarf just do a class triangle fold, and roll it up starting with the triangle end. Then just wrap it around the collar or neck of whatever coat you are wearing.

The Full Head Wrap

This look is a VIBE. It makes us think of driving through California in a red convertible on a sunny day. It’s something that is unique and chic at the same time, especially with a pair of statement sunglasses and a designer scarf like this Gucci silk baby. The way to fold this look is to drape the scarf around your head. Take the two ends in the front and wrap around the front of your neck to tie in the back. Adjust the scarf as you like. We like this look with more of a loose-looking feel.

The Face Covering

Wearing a mask has never been so stylish. In this weird time where you have to wear a face covering everywhere you go, why not make it a part of your whole outfit? Any one of our silk scarves take the mask-look up a notch. Do it by folding the scarf in a triangle. Then, fold the scarf on the horizontal side a few times. These folds will help the scarf latch onto your nose when it’s on your face, which will keep it from slipping off. Then tie around your head under or over your hair.

The Classic Neck Wrap

There are soooo many ways to wear a neck scarf, that we might just have to make another post one day to go through them all. But for this look we love a loose and chunky style. This type goes best with an exposed shoulder, or, on the contrary, a turtle neck. It can make any top look 10x better with just an easy wrap. Start with a triangle fold, and then fold the horizontal end once. Tie this around your neck like a bandana, and then wrap the ends to the front. You can also find the video for this look on Instagram.

The Hair Tie

Pulling your hair up in a messy bun or tight ponytail is better when you add a little silky scarf flair. You can make it a bow or a simple knot, either way adds a certain something to every up-do. To get this look, fold the scarf into a triangle and wrap it around the ponytail or bun. Then, take the ends and tie it up any way you choose.
