Four Free or Low Cost Mental Health Resources In St. Louis
May is mental health awareness month, which is a topic that is very important to us and our brand. The May’s Place team and those we love struggle with mental health sometimes, especially in the darkness of the last year. We think lots of folks can relate. Luckily, there are organizations in St. Louis that offer mental health help at little to no cost.
Here are four of those resources:
St. Louis Behavioral Health Number 2-1-1
Free
This service was launched early in the pandemic to help people dealing with mental health crisis’. Anyone in the St. Louis area can call 2-1-1 and press ‘1’ to access a mental health professional, free of charge, 24/7. If you need more in-depth help, they will refer you to a therapist.
Affinia Healthcare 3930 S. Broadway
Low Cost
This service offers mental health services of adults and teens of all ages through a psychiatrist or a social worker. The behavioral health team is made up of psychiatrists, psychologists, a pediatric neurologist, clinical social work care coordinators, a speech and language therapist and audiologist. Appointments start at $20 for patients whose income does not exceed 100% of the federal poverty level.
Free
This organization has been helping survivors of sexual and domestic violence for decades. They specialize in helping survivors reclaim their lives through individual counseling for adults, one on one services with teens, and crisis intervention services. All pro-bono.

Low Cost (Depending on Income)
This catch-all organization is a space that offers multiple forms of rehabilitation, psychiatric care and counseling, early-intervention services, outpatient care, children services, and more. The phone number for crisis behavioral health help is 314.469.6644. Cost is based on income, and starts at $20.
Free Crisis Lines
Outside of St. Louis, there are a number of free crisis help lines listed here. If you or someone you know if experiences thoughts of suicide, the National Suicide Prevention hotline number is 1-800-273-8255 and the online chat is here.
