Vinyl Wednesday: Hawkwind

Space Ritual

The fourth album by UK psych rock band Hawkwind, notoriously cited as Lemmy of Motorhead's first band, Space Ritual is a two disc set recorded from live shows in Liverpool and London while the band toured to promote their previous album, Doremi Fasol Latido.  The show was a full on audio-visual experience with dancers, bubbles, and a liquid light show to evoke feelings of traveling through time and space. The double album features a good portion of the album they were touring to promote mixed with a previously unreleased tracks, all woven together with electronic and spoken performances, making Space Ritual one continuous piece. While you may not get the full experience of what the show was like, play this album loud with candles throwing light on your ceiling and you'll be on a journey through space and time too. Take a trip with Hawkwind!

The Space Ritual Alive in Liverpool and London is a 1973 live double album recorded in 1972 by UK rock band Hawkwind. It is their fourth album, reached #9 in the UK album charts and briefly dented the Billboard Top 200, peaking at #179.
